Adventures in the AM

Sep. 26th, 2007 | 09:43 pm
music: Lost - Michael Buble

So this morning jetlag had me awake at the previously unknown hour of four am. I had, by yet another chance of jetlag, discovered the hour of five am a few nights before. Sunday, actually.

Believe me, it wasn't a joyful discovery. Oh, I tossed and turned; cuddled my cat; buried beneath the thick comfortable blankets on my bed; and yet, it was all in vain as I tried to deny the discovery of yet another uncharted hour during the unholy period between sleeping and waking up.

When all attempts of seducing sleep to ravish me once more failed, I donned on my sweater and slippers, fumbled for my glasses and stumbled out into the still dark hallway, hoping that I won't trip down the stairs (to a death that won't be discovered until "morning" when civilized people rise) as I reached blindly for the rail.

Safely on the main floor (and avoiding the stairs to the basement) I made my way into the kitchen. I'm a starving, irritable, critical bitch at four in the morning, apparently. I procured a slice of cake first and, after being unable to find any salad in the fridge, I had myself an egg. I sat intending to enjoy my breakfast whilst watching some late night (rather, early morning?) show on the television when I realized that "four am" was such a new concept that it was still in its birthing stages in the entertainment world.

As it was, absolutely nothing was on tv. In fact, it was such a new concept that even the steadfast scrolling channel of the tv guide wasn't on. Just an reality shattering red blank screen, much akin to the blue screen of death users fear on the pc, I reckon.

No worries, however, dear readers, the discovery of the new AM hour soon reached all corners of the world as the tv guide channel flickered to life hesitantly. Its baby hands gripping hard onto the coffee table as it struggled to take its first steps through the channels. But, oh dear, it got stuck. I was momentarily paralyzed in fear as the screen continued to loop through the same channels stuck at "500am" like the world was stuck in some strange time loop that I might never escape from. Looping infinitely through the just recently discovered five am, forever doomed to feel like a cotton ball was threatening to smother my brain in its confusing, dizzying fluffyness.

Luckily, I had enough wits about me to change the channel, thus escaping the pseudo fear-induced paralysis. Unfortunately, all programmes on the other channels weren't much better than the previous and I ended up on muchmusic's mega-something-or-another, assuming (wrongly!) that music videos would entertain adequately enough.

How very, very, very wrong I was! Oh fool! As I watched video after video shown only in the early hours of the known day I discovered the irritable critical part of me had also decided to enjoy my breakie with me that morning (and every other morning I don't get the proper amount of sleep). I found something to criticize in every single video as they scrolled past, rolling my eyes and seething on the inside at the celebrities on the little screen. Luckily these were music videos rather than television shows or movies, or worse, infomercials. I spent only a couple of minutes plotting deaths rather than a whole half hour, hour, or, god forbid, the gazillion hours that infomercials seem to go on for.

By now, the sun has started to yawn and peek up from the horizon, showering everything with a friendly warm glow; instantly melting away any bit of irritational hyperactive criticizing and hating I was having at the moment into a warm pool of fuzzy puppies and kitties that I had to shoo away as I decided to better spend my time: facebook stalking.

I like how I only update this thing to let you all know I haven't been eaten alive by one of the Japanese godzillas that run around freely on this giant island.

Not that I'm any better on facebook. Heh.

I FINALLY HAVE MY TOILET FIXED!!!!

it really feels good to sit down on my toilet and not experience a mini heart attack as the seat slides and ka-kunks out of balance. Or experience the paranoia that the ka-kunk is out to get you when the seat DOESN'T slide off balance immediately (but does eventually)

I have no idea how you would manage to break a toilet seat like that but I'm not going to try to find out 'cause it's NOT FUN!

THANK YOU TOILET-SEAT GODS!! You might not warm the seat up for me when it's below freezing in my apartment in the middle of winter, but I am grateful that you've bestowed enough kindess to have that toilet seat replaced.

Dear Gods of Cleanliness,

May. 18th, 2007 | 06:58 am
music: #1 Zero - Audioslave

I know I didn't have time to vacuum and super scrub everything last week but you didn't have to go all wrathy on me and send cockroachus giganticus to greet me this morning!

I had my own wrathy spell and unleashed about half a can of bug spray on it.

After one weekend of not vacuuming I get cockroaches; I'm afraid to even think about what might I receive after a whole weekend with absolutely no cleaning at all.

I shall endeavor to keep my home as clean as possible but please don't send any more cockroaches my way, even though I won't be able to clean until Monday this weekend.

Sincerely,
your i'm-trying-my-best-to-be-utterly-devoted-to-cleaning worshipper,
- Jackie

I love waking up early.

As much as I love sleeping in and wouldn't mind spending a whole day in bed drifting in and out of sleep I do love waking up early (without the alarm, mind you). I am so incredibly productive when I wake up early (or maybe i'm just not super lazy? lmao).

This morning I woke up at 630 and, after screwing around on the computer for half an hour, I got dressed, put my laundry into the machine, and at 730, I went out for a half hour morning walk.

upon returning home, I hung up my laundry, cleaned up one of the rooms in my apartment, put my futon away in the closet and took a shower by 845.

out of the shower by 920, I clean up the other two rooms and cook myself a small breakfast by 1045.

so in the span of 4-5 hours I managed to do all the chores (minus vacuuming) that usually took me a whole weekend to do.

I am so proud of myself! haha

no vacuuming 'cause I had to catch the 1151 train to get into town for the festival.

The Kure festival was pretty awesome even though I went by myself. I met one of my English teachers there, he was doing an Okinawan performance which I really liked. I met some of the other performers in his group, they were all awesome and tried to get me to dance with them except i'm so extremely shy and have no rhythm at all so I politely declined even though they took my sweater and water bottle. haha

After I left them, I went looking around for the other dances 'cause one of the other jets were supposed to perform so I tried to find that but had no idea where so i walked the whole length of the street until i saw another performing jet and asked him about it. Anyway, long story short, I found my friend, saw his performance and walked around a bit more.

There were food stands everywhere (I'd like to say Yakuza stands but I really have no idea how many of them actually ARE run by the yakuza hahahahah okay, maybe not too many) and mini performances everywhere. The larger performances went around the streets in a parade, it was pretty spectacular with loud music and great shows. I had an awesome time, even if the sun was cooking my brains and the INCREDIBLY loud music was making my ears bleed.

I have pictures, just wait an eternity before I get them up hahahahahah damnit.

new goals:
- at least 20 minute walk in the morning, every morning (well provided i get more than 6 hours sleep)
- several pictures every week, even if it's the most mundane thing in the world to me (right after I upload these pictures)

golden week! no school! ahhhh~~~~~~~~~~

drawing personality

What does your drawing say about YOU?

You tend to pursue many different activities simultaneously. When misfortune does happen, it doesn't actually dishearten you all that much.
You have a peaceful mind, viewing the world with calm and serenity. To you, life is not about struggle and strife but about existence and co-existence.
You are creative, mentally active and industrious.
You have a sunny, cheerful disposition.

art class 101!! how not to draw with a mouse!
